Battery type

Back-UPS RS models use 12 V VRLA batteries — smaller models use a single 12 V battery, while higher-capacity models (such as the BR1500) use two 12 V batteries wired to 24 V. Capacity and count depend on the exact model, so match by your model number rather than by VA alone.

How to replace

Back-UPS RS batteries are user-replaceable:

1. Confirm the correct battery for your model.
2. Power down the UPS if your model's manual requires it.
3. Open the battery cover on the base or rear.
4. Disconnect the old battery's tabs and remove it.
5. Fit the new battery (or pair), reconnect observing polarity, and close the cover.
6. Recharge and run a self-test.
