Tripp Lite OmniSmart UPS Systems
The OmniSmart series from Tripp Lite by Eaton is a family of compact, line-interactive tower UPS systems built for desktops, point-of-sale terminals, networking gear, and small server or workstation loads. Every model in this range provides automatic voltage regulation (AVR), making it well suited to sensitive electronics that need stable power and ride-through during brownouts and short outages. Output waveform varies by model: most OmniSmart units deliver pure sine wave output, while certain LCD models (for example OMNI650LCD and OMNI900LCD) use a PWM (simulated) sine wave — check the individual model's specifications for the exact waveform. Within the Tripp Lite lineup, OmniSmart sits in the value/general-purpose tier: more capable than basic standby (offline) backups thanks to AVR, but more affordable and compact than the double-conversion online SmartOnline series. If you are sizing a UPS to buy for an office PC, a small rack of network equipment, or a retail till, OmniSmart is the series to compare.
OmniSmart models at a glance
The OmniSmart range spans roughly 330 VA to 1500 VA (225 W to 810 W). All models are line-interactive, tower form factor. Representative models are shown below; see the full range listed on this page for every available unit.
Runtime figures are manufacturer estimates and vary with the actual connected load. There is also a 230 V export variant (OMNIX350HG, 350 VA / 225 W) for 220–240 V environments.
How to choose an OmniSmart UPS
Size by watts first, then VA. Add up the wattage of the equipment you want to protect, then choose a model whose watt rating comfortably exceeds that total (aim to load the UPS to no more than about 70–80% of its watt rating to leave headroom). The VA rating is the apparent-power ceiling; both VA and watts must be sufficient for your load. In the OmniSmart range, watt ratings run from 225 W on the smallest unit up to 810 W on the OMNI1500LCDT.
Set your runtime expectation. These are line-interactive units designed for ride-through and graceful shutdown, not for running equipment for hours. Half-load runtimes in this series generally fall between roughly 7 and 46 minutes depending on the model and how heavily it is loaded — enough to bridge brief outages and trigger an orderly shutdown. Full-load runtimes are shorter, so size up if you need more margin.
Topology. OmniSmart is line-interactive with AVR, which corrects under- and over-voltage without switching to battery and switches to battery only during true outages. This is the right choice for most office, retail, and networking loads. If you run equipment that requires zero transfer time and full input isolation — for example certain medical or lab gear — consider a double-conversion online series instead.
Form factor. Every OmniSmart model is a compact tower, with several of the smaller units also suitable for desktop or wall placement. There are no rackmount units in this series; if you need rack mounting, look at Tripp Lite's SmartPro or SmartOnline lines.
Key features of the OmniSmart series
- Sine wave output — most models deliver pure sine wave power compatible with active PFC power supplies; some LCD models use a PWM (simulated) sine wave. Check the specific model's specifications.
- Automatic voltage regulation (AVR) — corrects brownouts and overvoltages without draining the battery, extending battery life.
- Compact tower design — fits on or under a desk, at a POS station, or beside networking gear.
- USB monitoring — supported models connect to power-management software for unattended, graceful shutdown.
- LCD on select models — several units (for example OMNI1500LCDT, OMNI900LCD, OMNI650LCD) include an LCD status display.
Warranty, Canadian shipping & support
OmniSmart UPS systems carry Tripp Lite by Eaton's manufacturer warranty. We are an authorized Canadian reseller and ship genuine units from our Canadian warehouse, so you avoid cross-border duties and delays and get domestic support on your order.
Replacement batteries and related
When the internal batteries in an OmniSmart unit reach end of life (typically a few years), they can be replaced to restore full runtime — see our Tripp Lite replacement battery collection for the matching cartridge. To explore the full Tripp Lite by Eaton catalog, visit the Tripp Lite brand page.
Frequently asked questions
Is the OmniSmart series line-interactive or online?
Every OmniSmart model is line-interactive with automatic voltage regulation. Output waveform is pure sine wave on most models and PWM (simulated) sine wave on certain LCD models. For double-conversion online protection, look at Tripp Lite's SmartOnline series instead.
What size OmniSmart UPS do I need?
Add up the wattage of the gear you want to back up and pick a model whose watt rating exceeds that total with headroom (around 70–80% loading). OmniSmart watt ratings range from 225 W up to 810 W across the series.
How long will an OmniSmart run during an outage?
These units are designed for ride-through and graceful shutdown, not extended runtime. Half-load runtimes in this series run from roughly 7 to 46 minutes depending on model and actual load; full-load runtimes are shorter.
Are there rackmount OmniSmart models?
No. OmniSmart is a tower-only series. For rackmount UPS systems, see Tripp Lite's SmartPro or SmartOnline lines.
Can I replace the batteries when they wear out?
Yes. OmniSmart batteries are replaceable; install the matching replacement cartridge to restore runtime rather than replacing the whole unit.
