About CyberPower Intelligent LCD UPS Systems

CyberPower Intelligent LCD UPS systems

The CyberPower Intelligent LCD series is CyberPower's mainstream line of line-interactive battery backup UPS systems for desktops, workstations, networking gear, point-of-sale, and small-office equipment. Every model in this range uses line-interactive topology with automatic voltage regulation (AVR), a simulated sine wave output at 120 VAC, and a front-panel LCD that reports load, runtime, and battery status at a glance. The series spans 685 VA / 390 W up to 1500 VA / 900 W, so it sits below CyberPower's pure sine wave (PFC) and online double-conversion families and is aimed at protecting general-purpose electronics rather than active-PFC servers. If you are choosing a UPS to buy and sizing it to a real load, this page lays out the full range and how to pick.

How to choose

Size by watts, not just VA. A UPS carries two ratings, VA (apparent power) and watts (real power). Your actual equipment draw is measured in watts, so add up the wattage of everything you want to protect and pick a model whose watt rating comfortably exceeds it. In this series the watt rating runs from 390 W (685 VA) to 900 W (1500 VA); a typical desktop plus monitor and network gear lands well inside a 600–900 W unit.

Set your runtime expectation. Line-interactive units like these are designed to ride through brief outages and give you time for a clean shutdown, not to run equipment for hours. Published runtimes in this series range from roughly 7–18 minutes at half load down to 1–7 minutes at full load. The lighter your real load relative to the rating, the longer you run. If you need extended runtime, step up to a higher-VA model or a CyberPower family that supports external battery packs.

Topology. Every model here is line-interactive with AVR, which corrects under- and over-voltage without switching to battery and is the right fit for general electronics. It is not online double-conversion (continuous power conditioning) and uses a simulated sine wave, so equipment with active power-factor-correction (APFC) power supplies may prefer a pure sine wave UPS instead.

Tower vs rack. Most models are compact desktop/mini-tower units. The CPS1500AVR is tower/rack convertible if you need to mount it in a rack. Choose the form factor that matches where the unit will live.

Why this series

  • Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) corrects brownouts and surges without draining the battery, extending battery life.
  • Intelligent LCD panel shows load, estimated runtime, battery capacity, and operating mode in real time.
  • Simulated sine wave output at 120 VAC for reliable backup of everyday electronics.
  • NEMA 5-15R outlets split between battery-backup and surge-only on most models, so you can prioritize critical gear.
  • Energy-saving design and quiet operation suited to desks and small offices.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Intelligent LCD series and CyberPower's pure sine wave UPS?
The Intelligent LCD series is line-interactive with a simulated sine wave output, which is ideal for general electronics. CyberPower's PFC Sinewave (pure sine wave) family outputs a true sine wave preferred by equipment with active-PFC power supplies. Match the waveform to your gear.

How many watts do I need?
Add the wattage of every device you want to back up, then choose a model whose watt rating clears that total with headroom. This series runs 390 W to 900 W.

How long will it run during an outage?
These units are sized for short rides and clean shutdowns. Expect roughly 7–18 minutes at half load and 1–7 minutes at full load depending on the model and your actual load.

Can I rack-mount these?
Most models are desktop/mini-tower. The CPS1500AVR is tower/rack convertible. Check the form factor in the table above.

Are these genuine CyberPower units?
Yes. We are an authorized Canadian reseller and ship genuine CyberPower products from our Canadian warehouse.
