The Tripp Lite SmartPro line (SMART and SMC rack/tower models) is a line-interactive UPS range for servers, networking and AV. Its sealed lead-acid (VRLA) batteries wear out after about 3 to 5 years; new batteries restore runtime. Use this page to find the right battery for your exact SmartPro model.

Battery type

SmartPro models use VRLA batteries that differ by model: some compact 1U units use 6 V cells, while most SMC and rack models use 12 V cells (commonly 7.2 Ah), often two or more wired in series. Because the configuration varies across the line, match by your exact model number (e.g. SMART1500LCD, SMC1500T) rather than by VA alone.

How to replace

On rack SmartPro models the battery tray is front-accessible; on tower models the battery sits behind a panel:

  1. Confirm the correct battery for your model.
  2. Check your manual: power down first if required.
  3. Open the battery compartment or tray.
  4. Disconnect the old battery and remove it.
  5. Fit the new battery (or set), reconnect observing polarity, and close up.
  6. Recharge and run a self-test.
