About Xtreme Power Isolated UPS Systems (TX91 Series)

What is XPC isolated UPS?

An isolated UPS adds an internal galvanic isolation transformer between input and output. Output is electrically independent of the building neutral — common-mode noise drops dramatically, leakage current to ground stays low, ground loops on multi-instrument racks are eliminated, and the UPS provides protection from all 10 common power problems. Not just a UPS — a UPS combined with a power-conditioning isolation transformer.

XPC's isolated catalog is the TX91 series — tower-form 3.8, 5, 6, and 10 kVA online double-conversion with internal isolation transformer. UPSPLUSBATTERY.CA stocks the TX91 range with matching TX91-BP960 external battery packs. For full XPC catalog see Xtreme Power Conversion.

How to choose

When isolation is required

When a load needs galvanic isolation between utility ground and equipment ground — common in medical imaging, dialysis, lab instrumentation, infusion suites, and any installation where local code or equipment manual specifies isolated power. Confirm with biomedical engineering or the equipment vendor's pre-install specification.

TX91 vs TX91L

TX91 includes internal batteries — plug-in or terminal-block install with built-in ride-through. TX91L (the "L" variant) ships without internal batteries — designed for use with TX91-BP960 external battery packs only, where the site sizes ride-through specifically for the application. Choose TX91L when you need 4–8 hour ride-through and want flexibility on battery sizing.

TX91 vs TX91XR

TX91 stock uses (20) 9 Ah cells for typical short ride-through. TX91XR uses (20) 580 W extended-runtime cells in the same chassis — longer stock runtime before adding external battery packs. XR variants typically deploy where one chassis must cover both UPS and runtime without separate BP cabinet.

Sizing

TX91 is Unity PF: 5 kVA = 5 kW, 6 kVA = 6 kW, 10 kVA = 10 kW. Add nameplate watts of all loads (medical loads often have higher inrush than IT — check equipment label for peak inrush spec), multiply by 1.25 buffer, pick UPS whose watt rating exceeds. UPS sizing guide.

Bundled solutions

XPC ships TX91 bundle SKUs (TX91-3.8KB1, TX91-5KB1, TX91-6KB1, etc.) with included L6-30P 6-foot input cord and pre-configured output panels — typically (6) configurable 240 V outputs plus (4) 5-15/20R, or (4) 240 V outputs plus (4) 5-15/20R plus (1) L6-30R. Choose the bundle that matches site receptacle layout — fewer install line-items, faster commissioning.

External battery packs

TX91-BP960 packs extend ride-through up to 8 hours per XPC's published runtime curves. Three pack capacities: TX91-BP960-1 (1 string of 20 batteries), TX91-BP960-2 (2 strings of 40), TX91-BP960-3 (3 strings of 60). Up to three packs per UPS. Optional TX91-CHG external battery charger (240 VDC, 8 A output) for sites running larger external strings. SLA cartridges in stock as compatible aftermarket — 1-year UPSPLUSBATTERY warranty. Browse XPC battery packs.

Installation and warranty

TX91 plug-in bundles use NEMA L6-30P 6-foot input cord — dedicated 30 A 208 V circuit by licensed electrician per CSA. Terminal-block input/output models are hard-wired only. Optional external maintenance bypass switches available (90885-C241310 series) for service without dropping load. Warranty: 3-year electronics and 3-year battery (USA and Canada). Optional 5-year extended factory warranty (T9SP610) and 1–3 year on-site startup with warranty bundles. Coordinated through our Canadian team. Shipped from our Canadian warehouse — see shipping policy for rates and timing. Replies within 1 business day.

FAQ

What does "isolated" mean exactly?

Internal galvanic isolation transformer between input and output. Output ground is independent of utility ground. Reduces common-mode noise, eliminates ground loops on multi-instrument racks, and provides protection from all 10 common power problems per XPC's published documentation.

Do I need this for my equipment?

If the equipment manual specifies isolated power, hospital-grade input, low leakage current, or galvanic separation — yes. If it's typical IT or lab equipment without those callouts — usually no, and a standard online UPS like P91 or T91 is sufficient. Confirm with biomedical engineering or the equipment vendor.

What's the difference between TX91 and TXVR?

TX91 is a UPS — battery, inverter, isolated online. TXVR is a Voltage Regulator only — 208 V in, 240/120 or 208 V out, with isolation transformer but no battery and no UPS function. Use TXVR when you need power conditioning and isolation but have separate UPS protection upstream or downstream.

How long can TX91 run on battery?

Stock TX91 battery: typically minutes at full load — sized for graceful shutdown / generator transfer. With TX91-BP960 external battery packs: up to 8 hours per XPC published runtime tables. Specific runtime depends on actual load and pack count.

Network management?

SNMP-2PV3 internal card supported on TX91. SNMP v1/v2c/v3, web management, integration with VMware, Hyper-V, Linux, Windows shutdown agents. MODBUS-IN card optional for BMS / industrial integration. Environmental sensor SNMP-EMPV2.

Can I install TX91 myself?

The L6-30P plug-in TX91 bundle variants drop into a properly-installed dedicated 30 A 208 V circuit. Terminal-block hard-wired models always require licensed electrician per CSA. External battery pack connection is mechanical via supplied cable.

Canadian warranty?

Yes — TX91 standard 3-year electronics + 3-year battery factory warranty explicitly covers USA and Canada. RMA does not require cross-border shipping. Shipped from our Canadian warehouse.

Industrial-grade online UPS with full galvanic isolation — for medical imaging, laboratories, and noise-sensitive industrial loads.

Galvanically isolated UPS systems include an isolation transformer between input and output, eliminating ground loops and common-mode noise that can corrupt sensitive measurements or interfere with medical instrumentation. The TX91 series delivers full double-conversion online performance plus the noise-rejection benefits of a dedicated isolation transformer in a single chassis.

What's in this collection

The Xtreme Power TX91 series covers 3.8kVA to 10kVA at 208/230V, with optional XR variants for extended runtime. The TX91L long-runtime models are pre-configured with larger battery banks for extended outage protection.

Where you need an isolated UPS
