What is a refurbished Tripp Lite UPS?

A refurbished Tripp Lite UPS is a previously-deployed unit — typically returned from end-of-lease, decommissioned rack, or trade-in — that has been disassembled, electrically tested under load, fitted with a new battery cartridge, cosmetically cleaned, and re-certified to Tripp Lite's published electrical specification. Refurbished SKUs are sold at substantial discount to new and are the right fit when deployment horizon is shorter than the SLA battery cycle, when budget is the constraint, or when the original part number is end-of-life on the secondary market.

Important warranty note. Refurbished Tripp Lite units sold by UPSPLUSBATTERY.CA carry a 12-month UPSPLUSBATTERY in-house warranty, not the original Tripp Lite / Eaton factory warranty. Factory warranty does not transfer when a unit is refurbished and resold. We service refurbished-unit warranty claims directly from our Canadian team. How we refurbish

Battery

Every refurbished UPS sold ships with a new battery cartridge or factory-spec aftermarket pack matched to the unit's original RBC. We do not resell with the factory battery in place — battery is the most failure-prone component.

Electrical test

Inverter and rectifier sections tested under load on a calibrated electronic load bank. Output sine purity, transfer time, and rated runtime calibrated against Tripp Lite's published specification.

Firmware and self-test

Firmware updated to the most recent Tripp Lite release available. Battery install date reset on the front panel. WEBCARDLX network management card (where present) hard-reset to defaults.

Cosmetic and physical

Chassis cleaned and inspected for dent / impact damage. Rail kits and front bezels included where the original SKU shipped with them.

Pricing and lead time

Refurbished pricing typically runs 40–60% below new-unit list. Stock fluctuates because refurbished inventory comes from real-world decommissioning. Replies within 1 business day on stock and quote questions.

Replacement batteries

Refurbished units use the same RBC as the new equivalent. SMART1500LCD: RBC51. SU3000RTXL2U: RBC94-2U. SU6000RT4U: RBC96-2U. We stock compatible aftermarket equivalents — same V, Ah, terminal, connector spec — with 1-year UPSPLUSBATTERY warranty. Tripp Lite replacement batteries.

Installation and warranty

SmartPro and OmniVS plug-and-play. SU 5 kVA+ typically L6-30P or hard-wired. SU 10 kVA+ hard-wired by licensed electrician per CSA. Refurbished-unit warranty: 12 months UPSPLUSBATTERY in-house, covering both electronics and the new battery. Coordinated through our Canadian team. Shipped from our Canadian warehouse. Is a refurbished Tripp Lite as reliable as new?

Mechanically and electrically, yes — units are tested under load and fitted with new batteries. The trade-offs are warranty term (12 months UPSPLUSBATTERY vs 2–3 years Tripp Lite factory) and accumulated service hours.

Does Tripp Lite honour the factory warranty on refurbished?

No. Factory warranty is non-transferable. UPSPLUSBATTERY 12-month in-house warranty is the warranty of record.

New battery follows Tripp Lite's 3–5 year SLA service life. SmartPro / SmartOnline electronics designed for far longer service.
