The Eaton 9PX is an online double-conversion UPS for servers, network rooms and edge IT. Its batteries are sealed lead-acid (VRLA) modules that wear out after roughly 3–5 years; replacing them restores full runtime and protection. Use this page to find the right battery for your exact 9PX model.

Battery type and how it scales

The 9PX RT line is built on 12 V 9 Ah VRLA modules. Smaller models use a short string (for example a 3 kVA 9PX uses six 12 V 9 Ah batteries at 72 V DC); larger models use longer strings, and extended runtime is added with external battery modules (EBMs). Because pack voltage and cell count scale with the VA rating, match the battery to your exact model number (on the rear label, e.g. 9PX1000RT, 9PX3000RT) rather than by VA alone.

How to replace

9PX internal and external (EBM) battery modules are hot-swappable — the UPS keeps protecting the load during the swap:

1. Confirm the correct battery for your model.
2. Open the front bezel and release the battery tray.
3. Disconnect the battery connector.
4. Slide the old module out and the new one in.
5. Reconnect until it clicks and run a self-test.
