Its batteries are sealed lead-acid (VRLA) modules that wear out after roughly 3 to 5 years; replacing them restores full runtime and protection. Battery type and how it scales

The 9PX RT line is built on 12 V VRLA blocks. The string voltage grows with the model, which shows in Eaton's matching EBMs: 9PXEBM36RT (9PX1000RT), 9PXEBM48RT (9PX1500RT), 9PXEBM72RT (9PX2000RT, 9PX3000RT) and 9PXEBM180RTG2 (9PX6K), each 9PX taking up to 4 EBMs. Eaton lists EBP-1613 as the internal battery for the 9PX1500RT. Because pack voltage and cell count scale with the VA rating, match the battery to your exact model number (on the rear label, e.g. 9PX1000RT, 9PX3000RT) rather than by VA alone.

How to replace

9PX internal and external (EBM) battery modules are hot-swappable, the UPS keeps protecting the load during the swap:

  1. Confirm the correct battery for your model.
  2. Open the front bezel and release the battery tray.
  3. Disconnect the battery connector.
  4. Slide the old module out and the new one in.
  5. Reconnect until it clicks and run a self-test.

Which battery does the Eaton 9PX 1500 use?

Eaton lists the EBP-1613 replacement battery pack (quantity 1) for the 9PX1500RT, and the 9PXEBM48RT external battery module for extra runtime (Eaton 9PX1500RT specifications). Check the full model number on the rear label first, since other 9PX 1500 models can differ.

Which battery does the Eaton 9PX 2000, 2200 or 3000 use?

Eaton’s specification pages for these models list hot-swappable internal batteries but no replacement part number. Send us the full model number from the rear label and we confirm the battery set before it ships.

What battery does the 9PX use?
