The Eaton 5P is a compact line-interactive UPS line built for network closets, server rooms, edge IT, point-of-sale, and small server/storage deployments. Every model in the series delivers pure sine wave output, so it runs cleanly with active-PFC power supplies found in modern servers and networking gear. The 5P sits above entry-level standby units like the Eaton 5S and below double-conversion online families such as the Eaton 9PX and 9SX in Eaton's lineup, making it the practical mid-tier choice when you need genuine sine wave protection and remote-management options without the cost or footprint of an online UPS.

Across the range you can choose 1U or 2U rackmount, a tower chassis for under-desk or shelf placement, or a rack/tower-convertible chassis at the larger end. Capacities run from 550 VA / 420 W up to 3000 VA / 2700 W, with both 120 VAC (NEMA) and 208/230 VAC (IEC) output options. Every model in this collection is extended-runtime capable, so you can add Eaton EBM battery modules where longer hold-up time is required.

How to choose your Eaton 5P

Size by watts, not just VA. Add up the real power draw (watts) of everything you plan to protect, then pick a 5P whose watt rating clears that total with roughly 20–30% headroom. The VA rating is the apparent-power ceiling; modern IT loads are watt-limited, so the watt figure is the one that constrains you. For example, the 5P1500RC supports 1100 W and the 5P3000RT supports 2700 W.

Set realistic runtime expectations. A 5P is sized to ride through brief sags and outages and to support a graceful shutdown, not to run loads for hours. At full load the models in this series hold roughly 3–5 minutes; at half load that climbs to about 8–15 minutes. If you need longer, every 5P here is extended-runtime capable and accepts Eaton EBM battery modules.

Topology. The entire 5P series is line-interactive with pure sine wave output. Line-interactive regulates voltage with an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) and switches to battery only on a true outage, which is ideal for offices, network closets, and edge IT. If your environment has frequent deep brownouts, generator switchover, or zero-transfer-time requirements, step up to a double-conversion online family such as the Eaton 9PX.

Rack vs tower. Choose 1U or 2U rackmount models for data-rack and network-cabinet installs, a tower chassis for floor or shelf placement, or a rack/tower-convertible chassis (5P2200/5P3000 class) when you want flexibility to mount either way. Match the output receptacles and voltage (NEMA 120 V vs IEC 208/230 V) to your equipment before ordering.
