Emerson UPS — what changed

Emerson Network Power was the parent of the Liebert UPS brand from 2000 until the business was spun off as Vertiv in 2016. Today, all current Liebert-branded UPS is sold and serviced under Vertiv. Legacy Emerson and Liebert UPS deployed before 2016 — PowerSure PSI, UPStation GXT, GXT2, GXT3, MicroPOD, NPower, NX, ITA, ITON — remain in active service across many Canadian sites and use SLA replacement cartridges that we still stock.

How to identify the right cartridge

Method 1: unit label

Side or rear of the UPS lists model number and battery part. On older PowerSure and GXT2 units, the label may also indicate the physical battery spec (e.g. "12 V 7 Ah × 4").

Method 2: existing cartridge

Open the front bezel — cartridge label typically lists cell count, voltage, and Ah.

How long do replacement batteries last?

SLA cells in legacy Emerson / Liebert UPS are rated for 3–5 years of useful life in 20–25 °C climate-controlled environment. The UPS front-panel and management software flag battery as "replace" once internal impedance crosses the threshold. When to replace UPS battery.

How to replace

Is Emerson the same as Vertiv now?

Emerson Network Power was spun off as Vertiv in 2016. Liebert continues under Vertiv. Pre-2016 units carry the Emerson / Liebert badge; post-2016 units are Vertiv / Liebert.

Can I still get OEM replacement batteries for legacy Emerson?

For most pre-2010 units, no — Vertiv has discontinued OEM production for legacy SKUs. Aftermarket built to factory spec is the practical replacement.

Will an aftermarket cartridge work as well as the original?

Yes — same V, Ah, terminal, and connector spec. Equivalent performance and life.
