The Vertiv Liebert GXT5 series is a full line of online double-conversion, pure sine wave UPS systems spanning roughly 500 VA / 500 W to 20,000 VA / 20,000 W in rack-mount (2U, 3U, 5U+) and tower/rack-convertible form factors, including standard VRLA and GXT5LI Lithium-Ion models. Genuine Vertiv, shipped from our Canadian warehouse.
The Vertiv Liebert GXT5 is Vertiv's flagship single-phase, online double-conversion UPS line for protecting servers, network closets, storage, medical, and edge-computing loads. Every model in this collection uses true online double-conversion topology with a pure sine wave output, so the connected equipment runs entirely on conditioned, regenerated power with zero transfer time when utility power fails. The GXT5 family is built for environments where a brief drop or a square-wave approximation is not acceptable.
This series sits at the high-reliability end of the Liebert lineup. It spans from compact 500 VA / 500 W rack units up to 20,000 VA / 20,000 W systems, and is offered in two battery technologies: standard valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) models and the GXT5LI Lithium-Ion models, which deliver longer service life and longer internal runtimes in the same footprint. Form factors range from 2U and 3U rack-mount through 5U+ chassis and tower/rack-convertible designs that can stand vertically or mount in a rack.
The collection carries the full GXT5 range; the table below shows representative models across the capacity band. See the full range below for every available configuration, including the matching GXT5LI Lithium-Ion variants.

All figures above are drawn from the product specifications in this collection. Runtimes are internal-battery estimates; every GXT5 model in this series is extended-runtime capable, so you can add external battery cabinets where longer hold-up is required.
Size by watts, not just VA. A UPS has two ceilings: apparent power (VA) and real power (watts). Modern servers and switch-mode power supplies are watt-limited, so confirm your total connected load in watts and pick a GXT5 whose wattage rating exceeds it with headroom. Across this series the VA and watt ratings are close (many models are unity or near-unity power factor, e.g. 5000 VA / 5000 W), which makes sizing straightforward, but always check the watt figure on the specific model.
Set your runtime target. Internal-battery runtime in this collection ranges from a few minutes at full load on the largest chassis up to the mid-30s of minutes at half load on the smallest units, with the GXT5LI Lithium-Ion models delivering some of the longest half-load runtimes in the line (into the high-20s of minutes). Decide whether you need just enough time for a graceful shutdown, or enough to ride through short outages and switch to generator. Because every GXT5 is extended-runtime capable, larger hold-up is a matter of adding battery cabinets rather than oversizing the UPS.
VRLA vs. GXT5LI Lithium-Ion. Standard VRLA models are the proven, lower-acquisition-cost choice. The GXT5LI Lithium-Ion models trade a higher up-front price for longer battery service life, longer internal runtimes in the same rack space, and a lighter chassis — often the better total-cost choice for edge sites where service visits are expensive.
Rack vs. tower. Choose a 2U/3U/5U+ rack model when the UPS lives in a cabinet; choose a tower/rack-convertible model when it may stand on the floor or move between deployments. Also confirm the output voltage and receptacle type — this series includes 120V, 208V, and 120/208V dual-voltage models with outlet or hardwired output configurations — so the UPS matches your facility's circuits and plugs.
These are genuine Vertiv Liebert GXT5 systems carrying the manufacturer's warranty. We stock and ship from our Canadian warehouse, so Canadian buyers avoid cross-border delays and duties on their UPS purchase, and our team can help you size and configure the right model before you order.
When the internal batteries eventually reach end of life, you do not have to replace the whole UPS — see our matching Vertiv Liebert replacement battery range and the full Vertiv Liebert brand collection for batteries, accessories, and the complete UPS lineup.
Is the GXT5 a line-interactive or online UPS? Every GXT5 in this collection is a true online double-conversion UPS. Unlike line-interactive designs, it continuously regenerates the output waveform and transfers to battery with zero break, which is why it is specified for servers, networking, and other critical loads.
What is the difference between the GXT5 and GXT5LI models? The GXT5LI models use Lithium-Ion batteries instead of VRLA. They offer longer battery service life and longer internal runtime in the same footprint, at a higher initial price. The standard GXT5 (VRLA) models have a lower up-front cost.
How do I size a GXT5 for my equipment? Add up the connected load in watts, then choose a model whose watt rating comfortably exceeds that total. Use the VA / W column above as a starting point and leave headroom for growth. Contact us if you would like help sizing.
Can I get more runtime than the internal batteries provide? Yes. Every GXT5 model in this series is extended-runtime capable and accepts external battery cabinets to increase hold-up time.
Do these ship from within Canada? Yes — we ship genuine Vertiv Liebert GXT5 systems from our Canadian warehouse.
