Every APC UPS — from the smallest Back-UPS BE350 to the largest Symmetra PX 500 kW — relies on a sealed lead-acid (SLA) or lithium-ion battery to provide ride-through during a power event. APC delivers replacement batteries in two formats: pre-assembled APCRBC cartridges for single-phase Smart-UPS and Back-UPS, and modular battery modules for Symmetra and Galaxy. Every UPS ships with its compatible battery part number printed on the unit label and listed in the user manual.

SRTL lithium-ion packs and Symmetra battery modules are factory APC only — BMS firmware and module-level intelligence must match the UPS at manufacture.

How to identify the right battery

1. Unit label. Side or rear of every APC UPS lists the compatible APCRBC or battery module.
2. Front-panel LCD. On SMT, SMX, SMC, SRT, SRTL: About → Battery displays the part number.
3. User manual. Battery section lists the replacement part for that model.

How long does an APC battery last?

SLA: 3–5 years in 20–25 °C climate-controlled environment. Lithium-ion (SRTL): 10 years rated. Replace promptly when PowerChute or the front-panel flags battery as "replace." Read when to replace UPS battery.

Installation

Every current Smart-UPS APCRBC cartridge is hot-swappable. Symmetra battery modules are also hot-swappable but should be done by trained personnel given the string voltages involved.
