About Environmental Monitoring & Sensors

See the conditions around your UPS, not just the power

A UPS protects against power problems — but most data-room downtime starts with heat, humidity, water or a door left open. Environmental monitoring closes that gap: sensors report conditions to a network management card or a dedicated rack/room monitor, which alerts your team (email, SNMP, web) before equipment is at risk.

What's in this collection

  • Sensors — temperature, temperature/humidity, spot & rope leak, smoke, vibration and door-contact sensors.
  • Environmental monitoring probes (EMP) — single-cable probes that add temperature and humidity to a compatible management card.
  • Rack & room monitors — NetBotz appliances that aggregate many sensors, cameras and access controls for a whole room or row.
  • Sensor pods, access pods & handles — expand a monitor with more sensor ports or card-controlled rack handles.
  • Cables & accessories — extension and dry-contact cabling to place sensors where you need them.

How it works

Most sensors connect to a UPS network management card or to a NetBotz monitor, which exposes readings and thresholds over the network. Set a threshold (for example, 27 °C at the top of the rack) and the device notifies you and can trigger a graceful shutdown.

Choosing what to monitor

At minimum, watch temperature at the top of each rack. Add humidity in dry or humid rooms, leak detection anywhere near cooling or plumbing, and door/contact sensors for physical security. For multi-rack rooms, a room monitor with pods scales better than individual card sensors.

FAQ

Will any sensor work with my UPS? Sensors connect through a management card or monitor — confirm the sensor is compatible with your specific card/monitor before ordering, or ask us.

Do I need a management card too? Usually yes — the card or monitor is what reads the sensor and sends alerts. Browse network & management cards.
