The Eaton 5P is an entry-level line-interactive UPS for desktops, networking and small server loads, in rack and tower form from 550 VA to about 1550 VA. Battery type

Most 5P models use 12 V VRLA batteries — commonly 7.2 Ah on smaller units (5P750/850) and 9 Ah on 1000–1550 VA models — while the compact 5P550R uses a 6 V battery. Capacity and count vary by model, so match by your exact model number (e.g. 5P1500RC, 5P850G) rather than by VA alone.

How to replace

On rack 5P models the battery tray is front-accessible (hot-swappable); on tower models the battery sits behind a panel:

1. Confirm the correct battery for your model.
2. Open the battery compartment or release the tray (power down first if your manual requires it).
3. Disconnect the old battery and remove it.
4. Fit the new battery (or set), reconnect observing polarity, and close up.
5. Recharge and run a self-test.
