About this UPS

APC / Schneider Electric Smart-UPS VT three-phase UPS — series hub. The Smart-UPS VT protected a generation of server rooms — 10 to 30 kVA of three-phase, double-conversion power with battery modules in the frame. Thousands are still running, and that's this hub's honest purpose: like-for-like replacements that reuse your electrical work, batteries for the installed base, and a straight answer on when to step to a current platform instead. Turnkey supply: equipment, freight, licensed installation, batteries and commissioning in one quote — request yours, call 438-881-3363, or compare families in the three-phase UPS guide.

How the Smart-UPS VT compares

The like-for-like specialist: not the platform for a new design, but the fastest, cheapest continuity path for the thousands of VT rooms already wired, vented and certified. Undecided between families? Start from the three-phase UPS family guide.

Runtime & expansion — batteries, cabinets, bypass

Published runtimes for the stocked configurations — more internal battery modules mean longer holds:

Runtimes are the manufacturer's published figures for new batteries at nominal conditions.

Turnkey: from quote to running system

  1. Tell us the requirement — model or just load, runtime and site details.
  2. One configured quote — UPS, batteries/cabinets, bypass, freight, installation and commissioning together.
  3. We do the hard work — logistics, rigging, licensed electricians, startup, and preventive maintenance afterward. Replacing equipment? We buy back working units.

Common questions

Is the Smart-UPS VT still a sensible buy?

For like-for-like replacement of an installed VT, often yes — it reuses the existing electrical work, footprint and battery logistics. For a fresh installation, we'll quote the current-generation equivalent alongside so you can compare honestly.

Are VT batteries still available?

Yes — the VT's battery modules remain available and replacement is a scheduled service we perform. A battery refresh is often the cheapest way to buy an installed VT another service cycle.

What does the F-number in VT references mean?

Internal battery module count: an F5 configuration holds roughly triple the runtime of an F2 at the same rating. The stocked 20 kVA F5 publishes just over an hour at half load.

Replace the VT or keep it running?

If the frame and electronics are healthy, a battery refresh keeps it in service. If parts risk or load growth is the concern, we quote the successor with trade-in on the old unit — both numbers, one decision.

How do pricing and lead time work on three-phase systems?

Three-phase systems are quoted, not carted: pricing depends on configuration, batteries, freight class and installation scope. Send the requirement and you get a firm, itemized quote — and honest availability for each option before you commit.

Do you supply and install outside major cities?

Yes — supply, freight and installation are coordinated wherever the site is, through our network of licensed electricians and riggers. Remote and industrial sites are quoted with site logistics included.

Frequently asked

Before you order

How do I know this UPS will run my equipment?

Add up the wattage draw of every device you'll plug in (servers, switches, monitors). The UPS's wattage rating — not VA — is the number that matters. Aim for the UPS to run at 60–70% of capacity at full load: this gives headroom for inrush current and a meaningful runtime margin. Email us your equipment list and we'll size the right UPS within one business hour.

What's covered by the warranty, and how long does it last?

New units carry the full manufacturer warranty registered to you on receipt. The manufacturer handles claims directly via their North American support channel. Refurbished units are covered by our own 1-year UPSPLUSBATTERY warranty handled in-house in Canada.

Can I extend runtime beyond what's shown above?

Many Smart-UPS-class models accept an external battery pack (XBP) connected to the rear battery port. If this UPS shows "Extended Runtime Capable: Yes" in the spec grid above, an XBP is supported. Compatible XBPs and the runtime gain they deliver vary by model — contact us if you don't see the right XBP in our catalogue.
