What is MGE?

MGE UPS Systems was a major French UPS manufacturer until Schneider Electric acquired the company in 2007. MGE products, Pulsar, Galaxy, Comet, EPS, and the MGE Office Protection Series (OPS), were integrated into APC by Schneider Electric's catalog. The Galaxy three-phase line was retained and expanded under the APC Galaxy brand; the smaller MGE OPS, Pulsar, and Comet single-phase lines were largely replaced by APC Smart-UPS equivalents.

How to identify the right cartridge

Method 1: unit label

Side or rear of the MGE UPS lists model number and battery configuration. Pulsar Evolution and Comet labels typically include the SLA cell spec.

Method 2: existing cartridge

Open the front bezel, cartridge label lists cell count, voltage, and Ah. Most use 12 V SLA blocks in series; the string voltage depends on the model.

How long do MGE UPS batteries last?

SLA: 3–5 years rated in 20–25 °C climate-controlled environment. Schedule routine load tests every 2–3 years on aging units.

How to replace
