Tripp Lite SmartOnline UPS Systems
SmartOnline is Tripp Lite's online double-conversion UPS family, sitting at the top of the brand's lineup above its line-interactive SmartPro range. Every SmartOnline unit continuously rebuilds the AC sine wave, isolating connected equipment from sags, surges, frequency drift and noise with effectively zero transfer time. That makes the series the right choice for servers, network and storage hardware, medical and lab instruments, edge/IT closets and industrial loads that cannot tolerate a power gap. Across this collection the line spans 750 VA / 600 W up to 100 kVA, with pure sine wave output throughout and form factors that include tower, 1U and 2U rackmount, and rack/tower-convertible chassis.
Models at a glance
A representative selection from the range is below. See the full range further down this page for every available model and capacity.
Runtimes are at the rating shown; larger three-phase frames are typically configured with external battery cabinets, so internal-only runtimes are not published per unit.
How to choose
Size by watts, not just VA. A UPS is rated in both VA (apparent power) and watts (real power). Modern IT gear is limited by the watt figure, so add up the wattage of everything you plan to plug in and pick a model whose watt rating clears that total with headroom. In this range the watt-to-VA ratio runs from roughly 0.8 on the smaller single-phase units up to 1.0 on the 5–6 kW models.
Set your runtime expectation. The internal-battery runtimes above are short by design — an online UPS is built to ride through outages and bridge to a generator or to trigger a graceful shutdown, not to run for hours. Most single-phase SmartOnline models in this collection are extended-runtime capable, accepting external battery packs to multiply backup time when you need it.
Topology. Everything here is true online double-conversion — the load always runs off the inverter, so there is no transfer time and the output sine wave is fully regenerated. That is a step up from line-interactive designs and is the reason this series is specified for the most sensitive and mission-critical loads.
Rack vs tower. Choose a tower for a floor-standing deployment, a 1U or 2U rackmount to slot into a server rack, or a rack/tower-convertible chassis if you want the flexibility to mount it either way. Larger-kVA frames in this collection are tower/floor-standing.

Frequently asked questions
Is SmartOnline the same as line-interactive?
No. SmartOnline is online double-conversion — the inverter feeds the load at all times. Line-interactive designs (Tripp Lite's SmartPro line) switch to battery on an outage. Online double-conversion gives the cleanest output and no transfer gap.
What size do I need?
Total the wattage of your equipment and pick a model whose watt rating exceeds that total with headroom. Match the output voltage and receptacle/hardwire configuration to your installation.
Can I get longer runtime?
Most single-phase models in this range are extended-runtime capable and accept external battery packs to increase backup time well beyond the internal-battery figures shown.
Does it come rack or tower?
Both. The collection includes tower, 1U and 2U rackmount, and rack/tower-convertible chassis; larger-kVA units are floor-standing.
Do you ship within Canada?
Yes — all units ship from our Canadian warehouse with Canadian support.
