An APC Back-UPS Pro BR1500MS is due for a battery. It takes one APCRBC163: a 24 volt cartridge. The data sheet lists the BR1500MS at 1500 volt-amps, 900 watts, and marks the model discontinued in 2022. You need a few minutes, and a flat spot on the floor to lay the unit down. Our advice: rubber gloves and insulated tools. These are illustrations. Follow your UPS's manual. The manual is specific. When replacing batteries, replace with the same number and type of batteries originally installed in the unit. The battery typically lasts three to five years, and a flashing Replace Battery icon with an empty battery capacity icon means replace it as early as possible. The battery sits behind a door on the bottom of the tower. Lay the unit down, press the locking tabs, and pull the door away. Lift the cartridge by its handles to expose the connector, unplug it, and slide the cartridge out. The new cartridge goes back the same way: connect the red wire, push the battery in, and clip the door back on. Two sounds tell you the battery is the problem. A chirp every two seconds means the battery is disconnected. Continuous chirping means the battery failed the automatic diagnostic test and should be replaced as early as possible. After the swap, the manual gives a typical recharge of sixteen hours, so expect a full runtime only after that charge. The cartridge for this UPS is the APCRBC163. UPS Plus Battery ships UPS batteries across Canada from Montreal.
