An Eaton 9PX 3000 is due for a battery. The 9PX 3000 rack models take one battery pack: 72 volts, six 12 volt 9 amp hour batteries wired in series. Eaton's own pack for this family is the EBP 1617. This video shows what the pack is, what Eaton's manual says before you start, how the swap works, and the test after. UPS Plus Battery stocks it two ways: a loose set of six batteries that reuses your wiring, or a pre assembled pack, ready to drop in. Both match Eaton's specification: 6 x 12 volt, 9 amp hour. The links are below. You need a few minutes. Our advice: rubber gloves and insulated tools. These are illustrations. Follow your UPS's manual. Eaton's manual is specific. Replace with the same type and number of batteries or battery packs. And never disconnect the batteries while the UPS is running on battery. The 9PX is a hot swap design: Eaton's manual says the batteries can be replaced without turning off the UPS or disconnecting the load. The pack slides out through the front, and the manual gives ten steps in its own order. Work through the steps in the manual, then verify the replacement batteries have the same rating. Our advice: do not reuse the old batteries. When the new batteries are in, charge them for 48 hours before the test. Then open the Control menu and start the battery test: the UPS discharges the batteries for 25 seconds and reports the result. Expect a full runtime only after the 48 hour charge.
