500VA/300W/230V Battery Backup for PC Networks, Security Systems or Digital Signage
This SmartPro ® line-interactive UPS system with AVR protection provides reliable battery backup and AC power protection against blackouts, brownouts, surges and line noise that can damage valuable electronics or destroy data. The SMX500RT1U is ideal protection for point-of-sale and kiosk applications, a small-business VoIP network or rack-mount equipment in your server room or network closet.

Reliable, Expandable Battery Backup Keeps You Operational Through Power Outages
The field-replaceable, hot-swappable internal battery provides 14 minutes of support at half load (150W) and three minutes at full load (300W), allowing you to work through short power failures and giving you enough time to safely save files and shut down your system in case of a prolonged blackout.

C13 Outlets Protect Your Connected Components
Six C13 outlets provide battery backup, 480 joules of network-grade surge protection and voltage regulation for your crucial components. Five outlets are UPS-supported, and one is surge-only to connect peripherals not requiring battery backup. One UPS-supported outlet is switchable, allowing you to power its connected device on and off remotely to reset or reboot it or to shed a less significant load to extend battery runtime for more critical equipment.

C14 Power Input Accepts a Wide Range of Cordsets
The C14 input connection accepts a variety of detachable cordsets to match country- or site-specific wall outlets. Two C13-to-C14 power cables are included.

Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) Corrects Low- and High-Voltage Conditions
AVR protects your equipment from incremental hardware damage, data loss and performance problems caused by brownouts. The SMX500RT1U maintains regulated 230V nominal output during brownouts as low as 187V, all while keeping the battery fully charged and ready to take over in case of power failure.

Premium Protection from EMI/RFI Line Noise Helps Your Equipment Perform Better
This UPS system filters out disruptive electromagnetic and radio frequency interference that can inflict hardware damage or data loss. This EMI/RFI filtering also helps your connected components perform better and last longer.

Designed for High Efficiency to Help You Save Money and Protect the Environment
A 97% efficiency rating reduces BTU emissions, energy consumption and, ultimately, your energy costs.

LED Indicators and Audible Alarms Keep You Informed
Five front-panel LEDs keep you apprised of line power, battery power, overload, voltage regulation and battery low/replace status at a glance. A multi-function alarm sounds to warn you of power failure, overload and low-battery conditions.

Advanced Communications Ports Allow for Automatic Saves and Shutdowns
RS-232 and HID-compliant USB ports connect to a computer running Tripp Lite's free downloadable PowerAlert ® software to enable safe unattended shutdown in case of a prolonged power failure. The EPO port supports emergency shutdown in large facilities. Cables are included.

    Frequently asked

    Before you order

How do I know this UPS will run my equipment?

Add up the wattage draw of every device you'll plug in (servers, switches, monitors). The UPS's wattage rating — not VA — is the number that matters. Aim for the UPS to run at 60–70% of capacity at full load: this gives headroom for inrush current and a meaningful runtime margin. Email us your equipment list; we'll respond within one business day with sizing guidance.

What's covered by the warranty, and how long does it last?

New units carry the warranty coverage stated by the manufacturer; see the product listing or manufacturer documentation for the applicable terms. Refurbished units are covered by the 1-year UPSPLUSBATTERY warranty handled in Canada.

Can I extend runtime beyond what's shown above?

Many Smart-UPS-class models accept an external battery pack (XBP) connected to the rear battery port. If this UPS shows "Extended Runtime Capable: Yes" in the spec grid above, an XBP is supported. Compatible XBPs and the runtime gain they deliver vary by model — contact us if you don't see the right XBP in our catalogue.
