What is a Liebert Vertiv UPS replacement battery?

Every Vertiv Liebert UPS uses sealed lead-acid (SLA) cartridges or modules in a defined Vertiv part number. PSI5 line-interactive uses internal cartridges; GXT5 online uses internal cartridges plus optional GXT5-EBC and GXT5-EBM external battery modules for runtime extension. GXT5 Lithium uses sealed LiFePO₄ packs (factory Vertiv only). The cartridge or pack number is on the unit label and listed in the user manual.

How to identify the right battery

Method 1: front-panel LCD

On PSI5 and GXT5: navigate to Status → Battery on the LCD.

Method 2: unit label

Side or back of chassis lists the model number and Vertiv battery part.

Method 3: existing cartridge

Open the front bezel — cartridge label lists cell count, voltage, and Ah.

Aftermarket disclosure

How long do Liebert Vertiv batteries last?

How to replace

Most current PSI5 (1500+) and every GXT5 are hot-swappable. Procedure:

1. Order the correct PSI5 or GXT5 part (verify against unit label or LCD).
2. Slide the front bezel off.
3. Disconnect the polarised battery plug.
4. Slide old cartridge out, new one in.
5. Reconnect the plug until it clicks.
6. Replace bezel and reset install date.

External Battery Modules (extended runtime)

GXT5 supports GXT5-EBC72VRT2U (1.5–3 kVA), GXT5-192VBATT (5–6 kVA), and GXT5-EBC192V (10 kVA) external battery modules. Each EBM roughly doubles runtime; multiple stack on most GXT5 SKUs. Hot-pluggable.
