An APC Smart-UPS 750 tower is due for a battery. The SMT750C models take one RBC48. That is one module: a 24 volt sealed lead acid pack, in a 750 volt-amp, 500 watt line-interactive tower. This video shows what the module is, what APC's manual says before you start, where the exact replacement steps come from, and the test after. UPS Plus Battery carries the RBC48. The battery is linked below. You need a few minutes, rubber gloves and boots, and tools with insulated handles, as APC's manual lists. These are illustrations. Follow your UPS's manual. APC's manual is specific. Replace the battery with the same number and type. Replace it at least every five years, or when the UPS says the battery needs replacement. Take off rings and watches first: a battery terminal shorted by metal can cause severe burns. And never put a battery in the fire. Heat, poor utility power, and frequent short outages all cut battery life. Old batteries get recycled; the new module ships with a disposal sheet. The battery sits behind the battery compartment bezel. The RBC48 ships with an instruction sheet, and that sheet carries the exact replacement steps for this model in APC's own order. Work through the sheet, then close the UPS the same way it opened. Do not reuse the old module. Run the self-test from the panel. In the About menu you will find the predictive battery replacement date; check it reflects the new battery. The UPS also runs its own self-tests, on a schedule you can set. APC's guide covers the two symptoms you might see next. If the Replace Battery icon is lit and the UPS beeps for one minute every five hours, that means a weak charge: let it recharge for at least four hours, then run the self-test again. If it still flags, replace the battery. A flashing light with a beep every two seconds means the connector is not fully seated. Power down, push it back in until it locks, and test again. Expect a full charge before you expect full runtime. After the swap, the spec sheet gives a 3 hour typical recharge, and a battery life of 3 to 5 years. The RBC48 is linked below. UPS Plus Battery ships UPS batteries across Canada from Montreal.
