About Tripp Lite SmartPro UPS Systems

About the Tripp Lite SmartPro UPS series

The Tripp Lite SmartPro family (model prefixes SMART, SM and SMC) is Tripp Lite by Eaton's core line of line-interactive, pure-sine-wave UPS systems. Every unit in the series uses line-interactive topology with automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to correct brownouts and overvoltages without switching to battery, and delivers a true pure sine wave output that is safe for active-PFC power supplies and sensitive electronics. The series spans roughly 500 VA / 300 W up to 5000 VA / 4000 W, in compact tower, rack/tower convertible, and dedicated rackmount (1U–6U) form factors.

SmartPro sits between Tripp Lite's entry-level standby units and its double-conversion SmartOnline series. It is built for servers, network closets, point-of-sale, workstations, VoIP, security and light data-centre loads — environments that need clean, regulated power and real runtime but do not require the zero-transfer-time isolation of an online UPS. This collection lists the full SmartPro range; the table below shows a representative cross-section.

How to choose a SmartPro UPS

Size by watts, not just VA. A UPS carries two ratings: VA (apparent power) and watts (real power). Add up the wattage of everything you intend to plug in, then choose a model whose watt rating comfortably exceeds that total — aim to load the UPS to no more than about 70–80% so you keep headroom and runtime. Across SmartPro the watt rating ranges from 300 W on the SMART500RT1UTAA up to 4000 W on the SMART5000RT-3U.

Set your runtime expectation. SmartPro is designed for ride-through and graceful shutdown, not hours of operation. Internal-battery runtimes in this series are typically in the single-digit-to-low-double-digit minutes at half load (for example 14.6 min on the SMART500RT1UTAA, 11.7 min on the SMART2200RM2ULN). If you need more, choose a model whose record shows it is extended-runtime capable — many SmartPro units (the RXL, RMXL, PSRT and similar variants) accept external battery packs to extend backup time.

Topology. Every model in this collection is line-interactive: it regulates voltage via AVR and switches to battery only on a true outage. This is the right fit for the vast majority of server-room, network and workstation loads. If your equipment requires continuous double-conversion isolation with zero transfer time, look instead at Tripp Lite's SmartOnline series rather than SmartPro.

Rack or tower. SmartPro is offered as compact towers (desk or floor), rack/tower convertible units with rotating LCDs and rail hardware that work either orientation, and dedicated rackmount chassis from 1U up. Match the form factor to where the unit will live: convertible models are the most flexible if your deployment may move between a shelf and a rack.

Why the SmartPro series

  • Pure sine wave output on every model — safe for active-PFC servers and modern electronics.
  • Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) corrects brownouts and overvoltages without draining the battery.
  • Wide capacity range, from 500 VA desktop units to 5000 VA rackmount systems, so you can standardise on one series across a site.
  • Flexible form factors including rack/tower convertible chassis.
  • Extended-runtime options on many models via external battery packs.
  • Network management available on LCD/NC/LN variants for remote monitoring, load shedding and safe shutdown.

Warranty, Canadian shipping & support

SmartPro units carry the manufacturer's limited warranty — most models in this collection are listed with a 2- or 3-year term (check the individual product record for the exact figure). All orders ship from our Canadian warehouse, so you avoid cross-border duties, currency surprises and import delays, and you get Canadian-based support before and after the sale.

Frequently asked questions

Is the SmartPro series line-interactive or online?

Every model in this collection is line-interactive with AVR and a pure-sine-wave output. For continuous double-conversion (online) protection, look at Tripp Lite's SmartOnline series instead.

What size SmartPro UPS do I need?

Total the wattage of your connected equipment and pick a model whose watt rating exceeds it with roughly 20–30% headroom. The series ranges from 300 W to 4000 W, so most server-room and workstation loads are covered.

Can I extend the runtime?

Many SmartPro models are extended-runtime capable and accept external battery packs — the product record for each unit shows whether it supports add-on battery modules. Models without that capability run on their internal battery only.

Can these be rack-mounted?

Yes. The series includes dedicated rackmount chassis (1U and up) and rack/tower convertible units that ship with rail hardware and rotating LCDs so they work in either orientation.

Do you ship to Canada and is the warranty valid here?

Yes. All units ship from our Canadian warehouse and carry the manufacturer's limited warranty as listed on each product page.
