How to identify your replacement battery

Step 1: UPS model number

UPS model number is on a label on the side, back, or underside. Write it down exactly: including suffixes. APC SMT1500RMI2U takes APCRBC133 while SMT1500RM2UC takes APCRBC159: the suffix matters.

Step 2: Battery part number on unit label

Most manufacturers print the replacement battery part number directly on the unit label alongside the UPS model. APC: APCRBC. Eaton: 744-A. Tripp Lite: RBC. CyberPower: RB. Vertiv: GXT5-EBC / PSI5. If readable, that number is definitive.

Step 3: Cross-reference by UPS model if label worn

Step 4, Verify before ordering

Compatible batteries must match three parameters: voltage (V), amp-hour capacity (Ah), and physical dimensions / connector type. Substituting higher Ah at the same voltage is generally safe and extends runtime; different voltage is never acceptable.

Compatible aftermarket vs OEM

Unless its listing says OEM, every battery in this catalogue is a compatible aftermarket replacement, matched on voltage, capacity (Ah), chemistry (SLA / VRLA), physical form factor and connector, but not sourced from or endorsed by the original UPS manufacturer. Compatible aftermarket batteries are appropriate for the vast majority of UPS maintenance, particularly out-of-warranty units. They carry the UPSPLUSBATTERY 1-year full-replacement warranty rather than OEM warranty. For UPS under active manufacturer service contract, confirm with your contract administrator before substituting aftermarket. SLA battery lifespan

SLA / VRLA batteries used in UPS have rated design life of 3–5 years in a controlled environment (20–25 °C ambient). Three factors shorten life: ambient temperature (every 8 °C above 25 °C roughly halves life), discharge cycles, and float voltage / charging algorithm. Will aftermarket void my UPS warranty?

For UPS units still under manufacturer warranty, using non-OEM battery may affect the manufacturer's battery-related warranty coverage. UPS electronics warranty is typically unaffected. For out-of-warranty UPS, compatible aftermarket is the usual choice.

Battery for legacy or discontinued UPS?
