Standardizing battery replacement across a Vertiv Liebert PSI5 edge fleet
A composite distributed-site case that keeps exact PSI5 models, battery types and handback evidence separate
Publication note. This composite scenario describes a plausible technical situation from the cited sources. No customer, site, price, measured result or completed work is presented as real.
Decision in brief
Standardize the intake form, safety controls and closeout record, but keep the battery route tied to the complete PSI5 model. Allocate external cabinets and internal replacement kits only after their function and supported model are confirmed.
| Item | Record |
|---|---|
| Equipment | Distributed Vertiv Liebert PSI5 fleet |
| Status | Composite scenario with no field outcome claimed |
| Selection basis | Complete nameplate, manufacturer document and site data |
| Closeout | Recorded alarms, load, test and returned operating state |
Technical context
A distributed edge fleet contained several PSI5 ratings and installation vintages. Procurement wanted one battery line and one visit script, while the service team needed to preserve model-specific parts and test requirements.
The campaign used a common data structure rather than a common battery assumption. Each site supplied the complete model, battery age, load role, alarm state and local access window before parts were allocated.

The release decision follows verified evidence.
Boundaries established by the evidence
Vertiv’s PSI5 guide instructs users to replace the internal battery with the same type and number originally installed. [1]
The PSI5 procedure includes a post-replacement battery self-check and proper battery disposal. [2]
A fleet campaign still requires asset-level compatibility and closeout evidence. [3]

Release conditions before ordering
The PSI5 1100RT120 page is one equipment example for checking how a named fleet asset is identified; it is not a universal battery cross-reference.

Keep the order on hold while any of the following points remains open:
- PSI5 rating or suffix missing
- Internal kit confused with external cabinet
- No local load owner
- No battery disposal and handback record

The release decision follows verified evidence.
Work control: Distributed Vertiv Liebert PSI5 fleet
The fleet record identifies the complete PSI5 model, installed battery type and quantity, battery age, protected load and local access window for every asset. Internal kits and external cabinets remain separate parts categories throughout qualification and purchasing.
At handback, the technician records connector and polarity checks, the PSI5 self-check, alarm state, protected-load state and disposal of the removed battery. Any asset with an unidentified battery route remains an exception instead of receiving a fleet-wide substitute.
Fleet exceptions that cannot be qualified or closed remotely can be assigned through Review Vertiv and Liebert fleet service for on-site battery service.
Handback evidence
- Model and battery type confirmed per asset
- Battery connector and polarity checks completed
- Self-check result recorded
- Alarm and protected-load state confirmed
- Removed battery disposition documented

The release decision follows verified evidence.
Decision outcome
The composite outcome is a repeatable fleet method with model-specific parts. It does not claim a completed number of sites, restored runtime or a universal PSI5 battery.
The 48 V cabinet page is an external-runtime example and must remain separate from internal fleet replacement kits.
